Chad Lake Scarf

Starting as soon as my Christmas Skirt was done, I dove in to the other yarns that I purchased at the Article Pract closing sale, including some great lace-weight yarn that I used to whip up the Rock Island Shawl.

And I ran out.

This, as you can surmise, was the reason for the first rule of going Cold Sheep - purchasing yarn to finish a project is acceptable.  So I did, and it took a while to come in, but luckily it came in just in time for Stitches (more on that later).

I absolutely love it!  Love love love!  The pattern was confusing at first, but really quickly became something I could conceptually follow without really even having to look at it.  It's great as a scarf hanging off the neck, and as a shawl, it will be amazing in the summer on the beach, with my family.

Car Cup Holders

I continued with my "Cold Sheep" pledge, and began work on a few over-due projects, but while I was waiting for yarn to come in (don't worry, it fell into exception one!), I whipped up another quick acrylic stash-buster, and made my car some cup-holders.

Unfortunately, I had been thinking of my old car, Oswaldo the Death-Trap, who was my first car-love and my home on far too many long road trips.  The Death-Trap didn't have cup holders in the back (or, you know, much of anything, either), and I always piled friends in and drove way farther than I should have, so I felt the need!

My new car, as it turns out I had forgotten, has cup holders in the back door arms, and has a fold down central arm rest with cup holders.  Oh well.  I'll save it for next time.

Sophie's Universe CAL - Part 8

I love the continued Octagonal shape in the Sophie's Universe CAL!  My prediction?  The long sides will continue to taper into a diamond, but we'll see!

Swiffer Cover

In keeping with my "Cold Sheep" pledge, I whipped up a swiffer cover so that I don't have to throw them out all the time!  It works pretty well, but I adapted the pattern a little by doing fewer circles across the top so that it would fit over the Swiffer.  I also have  a wet jet, so I wanted the places where the water comes out to be clear (though they're not totally).  Next time, I'll probably do chains that can tie across the top to make it easier to keep the liquid jets from just drooling into the cover.

Sophie's Universe CAL - Part 7

This week in the Sophie's Universe CAL, we continued the Octagonal Shape, and it continues to blow me away every week!

This week called for Fairy Tale again for the first time since Part 3.  I was really hesitant since I hated it so much the first time it was called for, and I even ordered another purple and waited for it to come in, but that one didn't match with any of the colors, so I stuck with Fairy Tale, and it actually wasn't that bad.  It looks particularly dissonant in conjunction with the Wine, so I decided to just adjust if that combination is called for again, and I'm hoping the original round will look better as more Fairy Tale is used.

I used:
  • Round 54: Solstice Heather (12 g)
  • Round 55: Cornflower (15 g)
  • Rounds 56-57: Sienna (40 g)
  • Round 58: Avocado (19 g)
  • Round 59: Fairy Tale (31 g)
  • Round 60: Caution (12 g)
  • Round 61: Sienna (12 g)
Yarn used to date:
  • Sienna: 308 grams
  • Avocado: 64 grams
  • Caution: 53 grams
  • Coral: 62 grams
  • Cornflower: 53 grams
  • Fairy Tale: 41 grams
  • Orange: 33 grams
  • Solstice Heather: 28 grams
  • Tidepool: 26 grams
  • Wine: 48 grams
  • Total: 716 grams
    • Part 1: 20
    • Part 2: 39
    • Part 3: 86
    • Part 4: 125
    • Part 5: 159
    • Part 6: 146
    • Part 7: 139

Rob's Cowl

Shortly after my decision to go Cold Sheep, I received a message from a close friend of mine named Rob.

Let's just get to the point; he's tall.

He wanted an infinity scarf, something he could wear like other people wear them.  He wanted one that was Rob sized.

So much for cold turkey.

Well, he bought the yarn, so I'm all good there, and since I was using it up for a request, it wouldn't be a problem...right?

Using some KnitPicks yarn, I whipped up the softest most delightful scarf with the best drape I think I have ever knit.  It ended up being 5.5' in circumference and 7" wide.  I LOVE it, and thankfully, he does, too!

Sophie's Universe CAL - Part 6

I was pleased to see that this installment of the Sophie's Universe CAL continued the Octagonal Shape, and I love it!

I've noticed in this round that my tension changes quite a bit.  Looking at the tulips from this section, as well as the one from the previous installment, and noticed that the Coral tulips were massive in comparison to the Orange ones!  We'll see which continues as we go on...

  • Rounds 46-47: Sienna (28 g)
  • Round 48: Avocado (11 g)
  • Round 49: Sienna (20 g)

  • Coral: 62 grams
  • Cornflower: 38 grams

    • Part 3: 86
    • Part 4: 125
